Purl, geboren in Connecticut, groeide op in Japan en werd de enige buitenlander die een opleiding volgde aan de Toho Geino Academy. Haar studie ging verder bij Neighborhood Playhouse en Lee Strasberg Institute. Ze was oprichter en directeur van het California International Theatre Festival. Purl en muziekdirecteur Tedd Firth toeren momenteel met soloconcerten Midnight Caravan, I'm in the Mood en Taking a Chance on Love. Eerdere optredens in concertzalen waren Catalina Jazz Club, 54 Below, Birdland, Naples Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Symphony, Crazy Coqs in Londen, Club Raye in Parijs en Satin Doll in Tokio.

Muzikale regisseur Tedd Firth en zangeres Linda Purl werken al lang samen voor hun vierde album, This Could Be the Start. De deuntjes onderzoeken gezamenlijk wat er gebeurt als je op het randje staat en de sprong waagt. Dingen gaan goed, dingen gaan ook fout, liefde ontwaakt, verdiept, gaat verloren en toch is het onvermijdelijk. Samen met meestermuzikanten David Finck, Ray Marchica en Nelson Rangell zal This Could Be the Start je zeker op weg helpen.

Behalve dat ze de vriendin van Richie Cunningham is, Fonzie's verloofde op Happy Days, Matlock's dochter Charlene Matlock, Pam's moeder / Steve Carell's vriendin op The Office, Homeland (Elizabeth Gaines), True Blood (Barbara Pelt), Kathy Vance op Hacks. Ze speelde in meer dan 45 voor tv gemaakte films. Ze is momenteel terugkerend in The Bold and the Beautiful.
